You have great memories together and you want them to remember those. They can become a new cooking tradition with their own kids or a source of energy when they might feel a bit down.  I define myself as a nostalgic person, but a happy one! I started writing my grandma’s amazing recipes on mixing bowls and gift them to my brothers and cousins. Their immediate and unforgettable reactions led me to include customized ceramics in ATMA collection.  Choose the perfect ceramic ATMA’s recipe mixing bowl is definitely the centerpiece of my customized  ceramics. However, I have developed a few more items from functional to decorative. I have sorted them by utility, but the most important is what memory you want to transmit: a family recipe, a song, a poem, a special date, etc.  For each item listed below, I stipulate the recommended length of the text, as well as its functional or decorative nature. Material and Timing In my studio, I use stoneware clay fired at 1250°C / 2280°F. It has an excellent resistance to shocks  and it goes perfectly in the microwave and dishwasher. For the writing, I use the same clay body as the container diluted with water. I apply it when it is still fresh so that both merge together when drying and being fired together.  I use only capital letters.  Depending on the time of the year, I might need up until 3 weeks to make the vessel and customize it. Ceramic is a slow art with long drying times and 2 firings, each one lasting about 36 hours to go up to the expected temperature and cool down. We, ceramicists, are all very patients people! My studio is based in Spain, I send ceramics every week to Europe, US and Canada. The summer days are behind us and we finally get to snuggle on the sofa with a good book or a good show on Netflix after having spent the day outside. Fall is my favorite season. I love the light, the colors in the countryside, the smell of wet leaves in the forest and the cool temperatures. I love getting outside and come back home for a tea. So when this one comes with a sweet treat, the day seems even better. Here are 5 ideas of feel-good and easy-to-bake desserts I often make for and with my kids! I could have put more recipes but those are my essentials, the ones I enjoy so much during this season. 1. Apple crumble Let’s start with cooked apples as for me they are a winner ingredient. Add it with a crunchy sugary topping and you’ll see your family eating it straight from the baking tray! If you’re lucky enough to get the apples from someone’s tree, it will bring you a satisfying feeling of authenticity . RECIPE 2. Banana Bread Have you ever noticed how banana bread is even better the day after? We normally double the ingredients so that we can bake a cake and make some muffins to eat on-the-go the day after. It definitely has a long-lasting wellness effect! RECIPE 3. Carrot Cake This recipe comes with frosting. My kids love it, me not so much. But it’s OK because with or without frosting, this recipe is amazing! This cake is perfectly moist and tender. Try it, you won’t regret it! RECIPE 4. Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins I found this recipe last year and I just can’t wait for the cold days to bake it again. (Remember, I’m in Spain, the cold days always take longer than in northern countries to come!) Spices, Pumpkin and cream cheese are the perfect combo to enjoy Fall days. RECIPE 5. Butternut Squash Muffins This last recipe is very autumnal as well with butternut squash, walnuts, cinnamon and Olive oil for a Spanish touch! Every year most of us are having the same issue which is how to find another gift idea for that person we cherish so much but who already has everything. But are those gifts going to have a long-term impact? Do they have a WOW effect? not really. What this person probably doesn’t have is something that reminds of one amazing moment from his/her past, a gift that calls to memory and even nostalgie. I’m a ceramicist and my passion is to create handmade ceramics personalized with a text that represents an iconic moment for each customer. My ceramics are mostly functional but some are also decorative. My style is inspired by Japanese ceramic with minimalist shapes and colors. Matériel et Durée de production Dans mon atelier, j’utilise de l’argile de grès cuite à 1250°C . Il a une excellente résistance aux chocs et passe parfaitement au micro-ondes et au lave-vaisselle. Pour l’écriture, j’utilise la même argile diluée avec de l’eau. Je l’applique lorsque le bol est encore frais afin que les deux s’unissent pendant le séchage.   Suivant la période de l’année, il me faut jusqu’à trois semaines pour produire la céramique, la personnaliser et la cuire. La poterie est un art lent avec un temps de séchage long suivi de deux cuissons d’environ 36 heures pour atteindre la température désirée puis refroidir. Nous, céramistes, sommes des gens très patients ! Mon studio est basé en Espagne, j’envoie des céramiques chaque semaine en Europe, aux États-Unis et au Canada.
